Oxford Region Girtonians

For our Summer Outing we visited Upton House and Gardens, near Banbury, on Wednesday 14th June. After a light lunch in the restaurant we went round the house and then spent time browsing around the garden, plant shop etc. The weather was kind to us and it was a very pleasant visit, with much to see and enjoy. Upton houses a world class art collection (over 150 paintings including works by Hogarth, Hieronymus Bosch, Bruegel, Saenredam, Guardi, Tintoretto, Stubbs, Raeburn and Canaletto) and some fine porcelain featuring pieces from the Chelsea, Bow, Derby, Worcester and Liverpool factories and 18th century French Sevres Porcelain.

Our Autumn Lecture Meeting and AGM was held on 4th November. We are extremely grateful to Judith Atkinson who stepped in to give us a talk on her experiences as a magistrate when our advertised speaker was unable to be with us. This interesting talk will be summarised in the next newsletter.
